Two free apps to help teaching and learning in all subjects

I’ve just started using Appshed which is a fantastic free web-based package for making info based web apps. Have a look yourself here www.appshed.com.

I’ve used Appshed to produce two apps which I hope will help teaching and learning. Each of these can be accessed at their links below. Simply open them on the devices you plan to use and bookmark the page or ‘Add to homescreen’ on Apple devices.

The Question Mountain – based on Bloom’s taxonomy this is a simple tool for improving both teachers’ and pupils’ questioning skills. It can be used ‘on the fly’ whilst teaching or whilst planning.

My learning – this app is designed for use by pupils in the plenary of lessons. It has nine boxes and behind each is a question or statement designed to encourage pupils to both reflect on their learning from that lesson and foster a metacognitive approach to learning in general.
